The Akron Art Museum is a world-class institution showcasing art created since 1850. In July 2004 the Museum began construction on a 63,000 square foot expansion. The John S. and James L. Knight Building, built adjacent to the existing museum, increased its size to 85,000 gross square feet. The new art museum was open to the public in July, 2007.
